We have discovered while activating Shaw boxes on our last few installs that Shaw now offers the option of sending ALL channels in Digital. So no more fuzzy analogue channels from 2-80. Call Shaw and request this 604-629-4000.

Blockbuster chooses Blu-Ray over HD DVD

The world's largest retailer of rentable videos, DVDs and video games today announced it would be rolling out an expanded Blu-ray disc inventory for rental to 1,700 corporate-owned stores by mid-July.
Blockbuster will continue to offer both Blu-ray and HD DVD titles through its online rental service and will continue to offer both formats at its initial 250 stores that currently carry both high-definition formats but the expanded store roster will be Blu-ray only. More...

Live Earth concert to deliver 28 hours of HDTV

The CTV network this week announced that on July 6th and 7th, the public broadcaster will be televising 28 straight hours of live high definition (HD) coverage of the Live Earth music event.
Live Earth is being billed as a 24-hour, 7-continent concert series on 7/7/07 that will feature more than 100 musical acts and hopes to draw a worldwide audience of over two billion people in an effort to combat global warming.

TSN HD to air 35 CFL games in high definition

TSN announced today it would be broadcasting a minimum of 35 regular season CFL games in high definition this season on TSN HD. The sports station will also air 15 additional games in standard definition.
The new high definition CFL season gets underway at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 28th in a game that features B.C at Toronto and continues the next night on TSN's first Friday Night Football game of the season. More

Blu-Ray One Year Anniversary Day 1: Year One Recap

One question that remains unanswerable is whether Blu-ray launched too early or too late. After numerous delays, and over two months after its rival, the first Blu-ray movies hit store shelves on June 20th, 2006. Unfortunately, the launch was without the much touted hardware and software support that was to be Blu-ray's main strength in the format war.
The earliest of adopters suffered through titles that presented a sub-par experience and an expensive player that had many first generation quirks. Sales data reflected overall consumer confidence with numbers strongly favoring HD DVD; the grass truly seemed greener on the other side.. More...
